The investment will help Türk Telekom connect its fixed- line broadband to about 45 percent of households within two years, from the current 32 percent, Chief Executive Paul Doany said Friday in Istanbul. It will also increase broadband speed to 32 megabits per second, he said. The maximum speed offered now is 8 megabits per second.
Doany said the connection fee charges applied by the country’s telecommunications regulator are in line with the European Union. Turkcell, Turkey’s biggest mobile- phone operator, criticized the regulator for reducing the charges, cutting its revenue by 28 percent, Chief Executive Officer Süreyya Ciliv said Thursday.
