Tree kills two in Istanbul cafe

A tree has fallen down on two customers at an Istanbul cafe, killing both women.The incident occurred on Sept. 9 at a teahouse in Beykoz Grove, a leafy area on the Asian side of the city.
Witnesses said the tree, presumably 50-60 years old, suddenly became uprooted, moments before it fell in two pieces on four women. While Hülya Bayrak and Ayfer Bulut died, two more women were also seriously injured.
Medical teams and firefighters rushed to assess the aftermath of the deadly accident.
“We didn’t see how it happened,” one witness said. “They were drinking tea there and the tree just fell down on them,” another added.
Police have started an investigation.
