A record number of Chinese tourists visited Turkey in February. Turkish Embassy in China cultural adviser İlknur Yiğit, who held a press conference with Turkish journalists in Beijing, said the number of Chinese tourists had almost doubled this February compared to the same period last year.She said that in this way the number of Chinese tourists visiting Turkey had reached the 10,000 threshold, which is the total number of tourists coming to Turkey from the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).
Yiğit said Chinese tourists were mostly interested in culture but they were open to anything in the field of tourism. She said 120,000 Chinese tourists visited Turkey in 2012 and they mostly preferred Istanbul, Cappadocia and İzmir.
