Touch-screen panels aim to raise awareness of contemporary art events.
Istanbul Modern Museum is installing touch-screen panels around Istanbul in an effort to make art more visible throughout society as part of a wider project titled “Istanbul Tourism’s New Attraction: Contemporary Art.”The aim of the project is to support the visibility of contemporary art and will allow audiences to view contemporary art from every part of Istanbul.
The project is being supported by Istanbul Modern and the Istanbul Development Agency (İSTKA).
Çiler Yıldız, Istanbul Modern’s director, said the project was developed with the intention of reaching as many people as possible.
“The touch screens and panels aim to raise awareness of contemporary art and draw more audiences to contemporary art events. The project also aims to raise the awareness of the current visitors of the museum,” Yıldız said.
Noting that the project would be supported with many free events such as seminars and education programs, she said the aim was also to increase the engagement of audiences with the museum’s social and other programs.
The project is also a very good way to contribute to alternative tourism events in Istanbul. “We aim to raise awareness in contemporary art by making it more visible among foreign and local tourists,” said Yıldız.
Noting that this project would allow people to access contemporary art more easily than before, Yıldız said: “Istanbul’s main squares such as Kabataş, Sultanahmet, Kadıköy, Karaköy, Beyoğlu will have these panels.”
With the panels, people will have the opportunity to follow the latest exhibitions.
