TOBB joins UN tourism organization

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) was selected to join the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) board of affiliate members yesterday, according to a written statement from the union.TOBB has been elected to the vice presidency of the affiliate members’ board in the UNWTO general assembly in Berlin, in which 23 member states participate.
Hasan Arat, the vice president of the Tourism Assembly of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, will also serve as the vice president of the private sector board of UNWTO.
“Aiming to take the top responsibilities in global organizations, TOBB has undertaken a great responsibility with this new position. We aim to realize the great potential in the tourism sector of Turkey at a maximum degree,” said the statement.
The chamber also said Istanbul was preparing to host “the UNWTO World Tourism Forum & Affiliate Members General Conference” November 14 to 16 with high participation of academics and sector professionals across the world.
