A policeman was killed by a security officer after shooting and killing two women in front of a police station in Ankara’s Çankaya district on July 1.The first victim reportedly filed a complaint against the suspect, a police officer, for harassing her. She returned to her work place but then headed to the police station after the suspect continued to intimidate her.
The police officer continued to follow the victim’s car while she was driving to the Beysukent Police Station with her child and sister. On the street where the police station is located, the policeman blocked the road, got out of his car and then fired his gun at the car, in which both sisters were sitting.
Both victims were shot in the attack, while the suspect was shot by a police officer who intervened after hearing the first gun shots.
One of the women died at the scene while her sister and the police officer both lost their lives after being taken to hospital.
A post-mortem examination has been completed on the first of the women to die.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident. Some 15 empty shell cases were found at the scene, eight of which were found to have struck the car of the two women.
Security camera footage showing the police officer pursuing the same car has also been revealed.
