Three French citizens among detained over ‘PKK links’ in southeast Turkey

Turkish security forces have detained 16 suspects, including three French citizens, in the southeastern province of Şırnak.
According to security sources cited by state-run Anadolu Agency, the gendermarie raid in Şırnak’s Kovankaya village on July 12 “aimed to detain couriers and collaborators” of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
The report added that the suspects, including a French woman, were sent to the gendermarie center for detention procedures, without elaborating on the charges.
The PKK was listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.
