The Ex combines rock, jazz at Ghetto

Underground Dutch band The Ex combines rock, jazz, improvisation and ethnic music melted in one pot, and is set to take the stage at Istanbul’s Ghetto. The concert will take place as part of the celebrations of Turkey and Holland’s 400 years of diplomatic relations. Since starting out in 1979 during the punk explosion The Ex has developed over the years into a melting-pot of divergent musical styles: noise, rock, jazz, improvisation, and ethnic music have been interweaved under one unique umbrella: “Ex-music.” Discordant, highly rhythmic guitars, the rolling, almost African drumming style, and the intense delivery of the often ironic lyrics all give The Ex’s music its special character.
