Telecom firm to be probed due to ‘unfair competition’

Turkey’s Competition Authority yesterday decided to launch an investigation to Turkey’s biggest telecom company, Türk Telekom.The Competition Authority had begun a preliminary investigation into Türk Telekom over claims that the company was selling telephone cards to its vendors at a sale price that was under the cost price. The authority has now decided to start an official investigation into Türk Telekom as a result of this preliminary investigation. The investigation has been launched in order to confirm whether Türk Telekomünikasyon AŞ abused its dominant position in the sector by the pricing policy related to its telephone cards produced for fixed telephone services, the Competition Authority said on its official website.
