Taylor plays on Akbank Sanat stage

Guitar player Martin Taylor takes the stage at Akbank today.

Martin Taylor, a solo guitar player and award-winning guitarist, is coming to Akbank Sanat for a concert and discussion session.

Taylor, who will speak about his music and how it has evolved within time, will hold a master class before the concert and share his musical experiences with young guitarists, informing them about his unique guitar playing methods. Entrance to the talk is free.

Taylor has invented and developed a way of playing the guitar that is often imitated by guitarists all over the world.

The guitarist has collaborated with artists such as Jeff Beck, Tommy Emmanuel, Bill Wyman, Chet Atkins, David Grisman, Dianne Schuur and Gary Burton and earned two honorary doctorates, a BBC lifetime achievement award, top 10 albums in both the United States and Europe and a record 14 British Jazz Awards. In 2002, he was appointed a MBE “For Services to Jazz Music” by Queen Elizabeth II. His “Spirit of Django Orchestral Suite” recently staged its London premiere at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms.
