Tango time begins for Istanbul

The 9th Istanbul Tango Festival will continue until July 8.

The rhythmic beat of tango music can now be heard in Istanbul as the ninth annual Tango Festival kicked off July 4. El Encuentro School of Tango has once again organized the festival to include participants from nearly 50 countries.

Internationally acclaimed tango artists such as Sebastian Arce, Mariana Montes, Ruben Veliz, Sabrina Veliz, Ali Işıklı, Mariano Otero and Alejandra Heredia will perform the dramatic and often romantic dance during the event.

The first performance of the festival took place yesterday at Cercle D’orient in Fenerbahçe. Tango lovers will also have the chance to participate in workshops given by tango artists, although workshop participants should have at least six months of tango experience. They will also be able to take part in the day and night milongas, Tango Spanish classes and a boat trip on Bosporus.
