Syria's opposition National Coalition has cancelled plans for a meeting in Istanbul this weekend focused on forming a provisional government, an opposition official said Aug. 1."There will not be a meeting this weekend," spokeswoman Sarah Kharkour told AFP.
The Coalition's new chief Ahmad Jarba had said on Tuesday that the opposition expected to form a provisional government in the second half of August.
Syria's opposition has struggled to put forward a united front during the country's more than two years of conflict, which have killed some 100,000 people.
The last attempt at forming a provisional government, under then rebel prime minister Ghassan Hitto, collapsed earlier this month when Hitto resigned after nearly four months of failed efforts.
