Symposium discusses museums, archaeolgy

MUĞLA - Anatolia News Agency
A four-day symposium on museum work and rescue excavations started yesterday in the Aegean province of Muğla. The event is being attended by the directors of 105 museums around Turkey.

Cultural Heritage and Museums General Director Osman Murat Süslü said they had decided in the symposium to not collaborate with countries which have not returned Turkey’s stolen artifacts in cultural fields.

He said Turkey had made great progress in getting back stolen artifacts in recent years, adding, “A total of 4,025 artifacts that were stolen from our country were returned to Turkey. We will continue giving positive developments about this in the coming days. We decided in this symposium that we will not conduct cultural collaborations with countries where Turkey’s historic artifacts are.”
