Turkish Airlines (THY) had to abort the landings of three of its airliners at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport on April 22 due to stray dogs that invaded the runway.The pilot of THY’s Zurich-Istanbul flight was the first to notify the tower about a pack of dogs near the runway.
THY’s Sarajevo-Istanbul and Dakka-Istanbul flights also had to abort their landings at the last minute, as the airport’s 05/23 runway was closed to flights.
Flights resumed after firefighters caught the stray dogs.
