Stomping and Singin’ the Blues

Saxophonist David Murray and Macy Gray, one of the most famous names in R&B and Soul, have come together for a very special project at İş Sanat, “Stomping and Singin’ the Blues.” Following their work on the musical project Questlove Afro-Picks in collaboration with Red Bull Music Academy, Gray asked Murray to rearrange a cover song from Kanye West for her forthcoming album, “Covered.” The idea of a big band was born from these two collaborations. Murray later set up a Blues Orchestra around James Blood Ulmer in Milan, rearranging some classical blues songs for a 17-musician big band; the lineup and those songs are the cement for this new project, in which Gray is the central element, providing a unique voice to accompany new arrangements of several classic blues tracks by Murray and input from fine blues and jazz musicians. Stomping and Singin’ the Blues offers a delightful journey to the unique world of jazz music for jazz lovers.
