The Limak İnşaat-Kolin İnşaat-Cengiz İnşaat consortium has placed the sole bid for the build-operate-transfer tender for Ankara’s new high-speed train station. The tender was held by the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) yesterday.Ten firms had received authorization to enter the bid, but only one ultimately chose to do so, according to TCDD Assistant General Manager İsmet Duman, speaking at the tender. He said this was the first time they had applied the build-operate-transfer model to a rail line and that, if successful, the model would also be applied in future projects.
According to the authorization conditions, the construction of the train station cannot exceed two years.
50,000 passenger per day
The station, to be built on Celal Bayar Boulevard on a plot adjacent to the existing station, will be built on a 21,600 square meter space. The station will be able to service 50,000 passengers per day, have a 15 million passenger capacity per annum, and the ground floor will house food stands and a passenger rest area. In addition, there will be a five-star hotel on two floors of the station and a restaurant and cafes on the roof.
The station will be able to accommodate 12 high-speed trains at the same time, with a 420 meter long platform. There will also be passage connecting the existing train station with the new station, which will have a “space station” design.
