Soldier, village guard killed in Turkey’s southeast

One Turkish soldier and a village guard were killed on March 19 in an attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
A statement released by the Diyarbakir Governor’s Office said a specialized sergeant and a village guard were killed when PKK militants opened fire on a moving vehicle at around 3 p.m. local time.
The governor’s office offered condolences to their families and the Turkish nation.
