Soldier killed in PKK attack Turkey’s east

One soldier was killed and five were injured in a mortar attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Çukurca district of the southeastern province of Hakkari on Oct. 1.PKK militants fired mortar shells at 05:30 a.m. on Oct. 1 in the Dağbaşı district on the border with Iraq during a military operation.
One soldier was killed and five were wounded in the attack.
Security forces are now conducting an air supported operation targeting the militants who carried out the attack and are still at large.
The injured soldiers were taken to the Hakkari State Hospital.
