Soldier commits suicide after being suspended over alleged FETÖ links
İZMİR
A lieutenant, who was suspended from his job over alleged links to what the authorities call the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), has committed suicide in front of a military reception center where he used to work in the Aegean province of İzmir.
The man, identified in reports only as Fatih Uğur K., was suspended as part of the investigation into FETÖ over two months ago while he was working as head of the military reception center in the Ödemiş district of İzmir.
Late on April 17 he came to the center, grabbed the gun of a security officer in front of the building, and shot himself in head.
His body was sent to the İzmir Forensic Medical Institute for an autopsy after health teams at the site confirmed that he had lost his life.
