Snowfall closes roads, schools across Turkey

Heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions across Turkey have wreaked havoc on the country’s roads, rendering countless villages inaccessible and causing a number of schools to be temporarily closed down.The Turkish State Meteorological Service has forecasted more snow, rain and storms in the coming days, according to reports.
Primary and high schools in many districts of the central Anatolian provinces of Ankara and Çankırı, the central-western provinces of Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, Isparta and Uşak, the Black Sea province of Kastamonu, the southwestern province of Burdur and the Aegean provinces of Muğla and Denizli were given an impromptu vacation due to weather conditions.
Sea transportation to the islands of Gökçeada and Bozcaada also came to a halt due to storms raging through the Dardanelles Strait. Some 435 village roads were rendered inaccessible in the Black Sea province of Kastamonu, while access to another 74 villages was shut off in Sinop.
