Smart chips developed to see fractures

The smart chips are designed exclusively with very small materials.
A team headed by Dr. Hilmi Volkan Demir developed a chip to observe bone and spinal cord fractures from outside the body. The project was supported by the American Health Institute. The chips, which are inserted into the body, show whether the fracture has mended yet.
Speaking to Anatolia news agency, Demir said they insert the chips with an implant in the bone and the chip can read the bone’s condition.
The chips can be inserted without any electrical attachment to the body. The mechanical charge can be read from the outside because there are radio frequencies.
The chips are designed exclusively with very small materials. “There are censors in the chips and they can read the fractures on bones,” said Demir. This product can also be used for trade purposes, he added.
The bone’s healing process can be seen very clearly, Demir said. “With a 10-day process we can see if the bone has healed or not. The healing process can take 30 to 40 days sometimes; this also depends on the size of the bone.”
