Sivas to host UNESCO officials, guests in June

As part of celebrations for the 40th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention, a program will be held in the Central Anatolian province of Sivas between June 16 and 18.The event will host 140 guests, including UNESCO representatives, press members, travel writers, tourism company officials and guides from 40 countries. Culture and Tourism Minister Ertuğrul Günay is also expected to attend the program.
During the event, the guests will visit the Divriği Ulu Mosque and Darüşşifa, which are both listed in UNESCO’s World Heritage List, Sivas city center and other historic places in the Divriği district. They will also be offered the special tastes of the province. Presentations titled “Turkey in World Heritage” and “The Divriği Ulu Mosque and Darüşşifa” will be made in the program, as well as a music concert. Guests will also visit the Kangal district, home of the world famous Kangal dogs.
The goal of the program is to promote all historical structures in Sivas to the world. Preparations by the Sivas Governor’s Office and Cultural and Tourism Provincial Directorate for the program are ongoing.
