GAZİANTEP - Anadolu Agency
Ahmed Salih, a nine-year-old Syrian boy who had been missing for three days, was found dead in the Nurdağı district of the southeastern province of Gaziantep on Aug. 3, Demirören News Agency reported.
The boy’s body was found in a water well located about 200 meters from the tent where his parents were accommodating. His parents were reported to have arrived in the Nurdağı district three months ago to work as seasonal workers.
Salih went missing on Aug. 1. His parents informed local authorities of the situation immediately after.
The local gendarmerie forces had sought support from the local Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) units.
The teams started an operation on Aug. 2 to find the boy.
The units used search and rescue dogs and drones to search wells and caves.
“We fear for his life. We do not know if he was kidnapped or killed,” his father Muhammed Salih had previously told state-run Anadolu Agency.
