The 8th International Alanya Stone Sculpture Symposium started Nov. 4 in the southern province of Antalya’s Alanya district with the participation of 10 sculptors from eight countries.
The symposium is being organized in collaboration with the Alanya Municipality and Istanbul’s Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty.
Alanya Mayor Hasan Sipahioğlu said 178 sculptors, 163 of whom are foreigners, had applied to the symposium and a jury had selected 10 sculptors for the event.
He said sculptures featuring children’s toys would be created during the symposium.
The stone sculpture symposium was organized for the last time this year, said Sipahioğlu, as next year a wood carving symposium would be held.
The symposium will continue until Nov. 30
