Safranbolu honored with flag

The Black Sea province of Karabük’s Safranbolu district, which is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, has been presented with an honorary flag at a ceremony organized by the Council of Europe.Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Edeltraud Gatterer, who gave a speech at the ceremony held at the Misak-ı Milli Square, said the council examined hundreds of cities and Safranbolu was seen as being worthy of the honorary flag.
“The most important criteria for a town to receive the flag is for it to give importance to protection. Generally, the base of Europe needs the modernization of cities and societies. On behalf of the Council of Europe, I thank you for your efforts because the world is kept alive thanks to people who are doing their best,” Gatterer said.
