Russian, Turkish presidents discuss Iraq, Syria in phone call

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Turkey for its success against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Syria during a phone conversation held with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a Turkish presidential source said late Oct. 18.The two leaders discussed the latest developments in Iraq, the fight against terror, regional issues and bilateral relations, according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
The two also discussed Syria and agreed to accelerate efforts in ending the conflict in Aleppo and delivering humanitarian aid to the northern city.
