Rendezvous with directors at museum

Director Reha Erdem’s first film ‘Oh Moon!’ will be one of the six feature films to be shown during Istanbul Modern Cinema’s new program.

Istanbul Modern Cinema has prepared a new series of meetings featuring directors who stand out for their artistic identity and original approach in Turkey’s contemporary film culture.

Between Jan. 24 and 31, directors from several generations will be invited to take part in the program, which focuses on the dynamics of present-day cinema and directors’ productions from their own standpoint.

The first guest in the series will be Reha Erdem, a creative director known for the fresh impetus he has brought to modern Turkish cinema.

Erdem is one of the leading names in Turkish cinema today and has earned the acclaim of film critics both in Turkey and abroad for his unique style, starting with his first film “Oh, Moon!” in 1988.

Six films by Erdem

At the first of these meetings, six of Erdem’s feature films will be screened – “Oh Moon!,” “Run for Money,” “Mommy I’m Scared,” “Times and Winds,” “My Only Sunshine” and “Kosmos” – in addition to some of his unknown shorts, with special presentations by members of the Turkish Film Critics Association (SIYAD).”

Cast members who took part in Erdem’s films will also make surprise appearances during the program.
