Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid a brief visit to the home of a citizen who invited him in after the prime minister conducted his Friday prayers on March 2 at a recently rebuilt mosque in Istanbul’s Üsküdar district.

Erdoğan drank tea with the citizens in their home located across from the Nalçacı Halil Mosque. The prime minister was reportedly invited home by a citizen who called on him from the balcony of the first story of an apartment building as he was departing the mosque.

Other citizens close to the mosque also greeted the prime minister with applause and wishes for him to recover following a second round of digestive-tract surgery he underwent on Feb. 10, according to reports.

The head of Parliament’s Education Commission, Nabi Avcı, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş, Istanbul Police Chief Hüseyin Çapkın, Üsküdar Mayor Mustafa Kara and Aziz Babuşcu, the Istanbul Provincial Head of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), also accompanied the prime minister at the mosque.

Erdoğan arrived at the Nalçacı Halil Mosque, which was jointly rebuilt by Üsküdar Municipality and the Istanbul Provincial Administration, from his home in Üsküdar’s Kısıklı neighborhood.
