PKK kidnaps AKP provincial head

Suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party have kidnapped a Justice and Development Party (AKP) provincial head in the eastern province of Van, private broadcaster NTV reported today on its website.Hayrullah Tanış, 46, was forced out of his car by three PKK members and was taken to an unknown location.
Security forces acted immediately once Tanış's family notified the authorities.
Operations are continuing in the area to retrieve the kidnapped deputy.
