PKK inmates captured while trying to escape from prison in Turkey’s Osmaniye

A total of 17 people who were convicted over links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were captured while they were attempting to escape from prison in the southern province of Osmaniye on Aug. 15.The escape attempt occurred at 2:00 a.m. Seventeen inmates tried to demolish a wall of an F type prison with various materials such as sticks and hangers.
The prison warden heard the noise while they were hitting the wall. Suspected prisoners were evacuated to another prison as the Osmaniye Chief Prosecution Office started an investigation into the incident to follow the trace of the escape attempt.
Officials seized numbers of materials which were used during the escape attempt as a hole was detected on the outer prison wall.
