Russian oligarch pays fortune at Turkish port to buy fuel for superyacht
Uzbek-born Russian business magnate Alisher Burkhanovich Usmanov has paid a small fortune to fill his superyacht up at a Turkish port. Click through for the story in photos...
Usmanov’s 156-meter yacht, Dilbar, anchored at the Turkish resort of Marmaris on Sept. 10.
Local media reported on Sept. 11 that its crew paid 2.6 million Turkish Liras ($400,000) to fill the yacht’s gigantic tank with 400,000 liters of fuel.
Reports added that Usmanov also paid Turkish taxes while paying for the fuel.
The 156-meter Dilbar, which crossed the Dardenelles around noon on Sept. 9., was described by media outlets as the world’s largest yacht by gross tonnage.
Usmanov’s superyacht left Marmara Sea and was bound to the southwestern Turkish resort of Fethiye, according to Turkish media reports.
The yacht was delivered by Lurssen to Usmanov in 2016 with a reported price tag of $600 million.
It can accommodate 40 guests and a crew of at least 80. A custom build Airbus H175 helicopter, which can carry seven passengers, is on board Dilbar.
As the majority shareholder of Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and HBI producer and supplier, Usmanov has a net worth of $12.7 billion.
