Wild boars roam in Turkey’s world-renowned resort town as summer ends
Turkey’s Aegean town of Bodrum was visited by millions of tourists this summer and now it is time for the boars. Click through for the story in photos...
State-run Anadolu Agency reported on Oct. 17 that about 30 boars roamed Bodrum’s town center, looking for food in people’s gardens and shop fronts.
While the herd terrified some residents, others tried to give food to the hungy animals before they went back into the wild.
Bodrum residents had hit headlines in the past by leaving food for boars on the border between forests and residential areas.
“By doing this, we think we can prevent the animals from coming to the city center and people’s gardens. The municipality puts water bowls in the same places,” said Yeşim Güngör, a local, who was quoted by the agency in June.
