Demirören News Agency reported that the accident happened in the province’s Yüreğir district at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 12.
The orange-laden truck had left a juice factory and started to dump its load on a landfill.
The boy who was collecting paper waste from streets, identified as Halil Yeloğlu, approached the truck to take the plastic packages before they were thrown away.
The driver, identified as Selahattin Muhacir, called the police after he noticed that the boy disappeared during the dumping.
Yeloğlu was taken out of the pulp pile and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The driver told the police that he had warned the boy before his approach.
“Thanks God he is alive,” the driver reportedly said, as the boy's mother sobbed.
