Have a Turkish breakfast: On Büyükada (Big Island), you can start your day with a delicious Turkish breakfast at Ada Palas Boutique Hotel’s Secret Garden Restaurant. Another option is the White Garden. (Photos by Alamy)
Hit the beach: To the ones who want to truly free themselves from Istanbul‘s crowds, Teos Beach Club on Kınalıada (Henna Island) is the right place to be. The beach welcomes visitors for chilling out in the blue sea, getting tan and cosily reading your favorite book.
Have a romantic dinner: Let the sun set at the famous Kalpazankaya cape of Burgazada with a nice dinner. This place was the favorite of famous Turkish writer Sait Faik Abasıyanık.
Have a family dinner: Bistro Candy Garden makes a difference with its world cuisine. With its colorful and custom designed interior, peaceful garden and incredible atmosphere, this place offers guests a delighted tune and some nostalgia.
Just relax: The only noise you may hear in the morning as you still sleep would be the horns of the ferries. Büyükada’s Princess Hotel and the White Palace are two options for accommodation in a completely relaxed mood.
Gaze far into myths: Climb the Hızır İlyas Hill to enjoy a perfect landscape from the top of “Adakule” (Island Tower). The hill is named after Khidr, a mystic figure in Islam who has been associated with legendary names, including Alexander the Great and Saint George.
Go on a cultural tour: Sait Faik Abasıyanık’s Museum in Burgazada, St. Nicholas Hangar Museum in Büyükada and Halki seminary on Heybeliada are some of the leading stops for a cultural tour on the islands.
Eat ice cream: Prinkipo ice cream in giant cones is probably a famous novelty on Büyükada.
Go biking: Touring the islands with a bicycle is currently the best option, as motorized vehicles are banned from the streets and horse-drawn carriages are in hot water due to animal rights abuses.
