Police have seized an antique Hebrew bible that is reportedly worth $2.5 million in the western Turkish province of Balıkesir. Click through for the story in photos...
Demirören News Agency reported Oct. 30 that the police were notified about an attempt to smuggle the historical artifact from the Aegean province of İzmir to Balıkesir.
Security forces halted a vehicle on the highway between the two western provinces and seized the gilded book.
A village head, a policemen and a construction contractor were detained for smuggling antiques.
