The first Turkish mobile phone application designed for friendship and dating has been uploaded by 60,000 people in one month. “Tolki” aims to become a new trend in social media.The application is geared for those who are looking to meet new friends or even possibly find a new romantic partner. “It is possible to find a new lover within five minutes. However, the users have to impress others within those five minutes,” said a written statement sent by the company.
Application users do not need to fill out a form in order to join. Only one minute is needed to become a member. After signing up, Tolki searches who is online and near the user’s location before determining the best suited member for them to chat with. Users have only five minute to chat and develop the connection. If, after the five minutes are up, the users don’t feel a connection has been made they can block the person they were conversing with and be matched up with another member.
Tolki aims to attract users by fusing modern technology with the often forgotten ancient practice of romantic letter writing. The application also serves as a guide on how to attract a man or a woman through the Internet.
The application suggests users choose their wording with extreme care to reflect who they really are and what type of relationship they are looking for, the company statement said. “The first words are like love at first sight. Words can sometimes be more effective than sight.”
