The Pera Museum will screen a documentary film on the Göl Village Institute today at 6:30 p.m. Founded in 1938 as an instructor course and expanded into a teacher training school with Ali Doğan Toran as its director, Kastamonu’s Göl Village Institute became one of the most successful institutes with students recruited from the surrounding provinces of Sinop, Çorum, Çankırı and Zonguldak. A total of 822 instructors and 1,331 teachers were trained at the institute where Hilmi Bilginer and Osman Ülkümen once served as headmasters. In 2000, the institute property and buildings were transferred to the military.
