Turkey’s Parliament is preparing to launch a second, more extensive Twitter account handle to provide detailed information on legislative and audit developments after scoring a success with its first account on the micro-blogging site.The second account will publicize the activities of Parliament’s General Assembly in the upcoming session, Parliament’s secretary-general, İrfan Neziroğlu, told Anatolia news agency yesterday. The initial account, under the name “TBMM Genel Kurulu” (Turkish Parliament General Assembly) has gained over 16,000 followers over the past six months. The new site will include information not only on legislative proceedings, draft laws and legal resolutions, but also drafts and resolutions referred to the assembly, parliamentary inquiries directed by lawmakers to the prime minister and other ministers, press conferences, administrative activities and inquiries, investigations and proposals for no-confidence motions.
