Former Turkish President Süleyman Demirel has denied widespread speculation that late President Turgut Özal was killed while in office, private broadcaster NTV reported earlier today.

"All claims addressed to me are sophistry. I don't agree with claims saying that Özal was murdered," he said.

Daily Zaman had claimed Nov. 24 that Özal was poisoned with four different types of radioactive chemicals.
