Outgoing president bids farewell to HDP’s presidential hopeful

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-leader Selahattin Demirtaş, who is running to replace Abdullah Gül, welcomes him at the Parliament’s Honor Gate.
During his ongoing courtesy visits to pay farewell, which began at the beginning of this week, outgoing President Abdullah Gül’s stop was Parliament on Aug. 7, when he met presidential hopeful Selahattin Demirtaş.Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-leader Selahattin Demirtaş, who is running to replace Gül, welcomed him at the Parliament’s Honor Gate. Speaking in a television interview late on Aug. 6, Demirtaş said he would be hosting Gül at Parliament because their newly-founded party headquarters was not convenient.
After his meeting and before leaving Parliament, Gül posed with parliamentary correspondents for a “farewell photo.”
