Turkish PM’s dangerous game

Turkish PM’s dangerous game

-When deaths are sent away by deaths
-When hate triggers hate
-When the bodies of young people fall to the soil
-When polarization increases
-When provocateurs are walking around
-When the risk of conflict arises
Prime ministers become deeply concerned, more than anybody else.

......................................

That’s why they call for common sense with all the strength in their voice; without getting tired, they underline brotherhood.

........................................

What does our prime minister do?
He does not even pretend to say common sense.
No, he does not. On the contrary, he takes a stance and uses rhetoric that fuels the fire.

.........................................

For instance…
In each of his speeches he, at least 80 times, says “They.”
He, at least 80 times, says “Us.”

.........................

For instance…
He otherizes, he polarizes; he does not leave space for gray areas. He says “either you are with me or with them.” He wants no one in the middle; he wants everybody to be fanatical.

...................................

For instance, a journalist can ask a question like “Could Berkin’s death and funeral affect markets?” Instead of answering “What are you talking about, a kid has died, and you are talking about markets and stock exchange?” and he says “it won’t be affected and it was not affected.” He could say this.

...............................

Why does he do that?
Because he wants polarization. He wants everyone in their ghettos, so everyone can get votes from their ghetto without any questioning. He thinks “the votes of the ones staying in my ghetto are enough for me.”
That’s how our game-setter sets the game.

........................................................

We need to dismantle this game.
We need to dismantle it in order for peace, to be able to maintain our ability to be a society.

....................................

How can this happen?
-By not withdrawing to our ghettos.
-By staying away from hate speech.
-By telling those who do not think like us “we are your brothers.”
-By staying away from violence.
-By not differentiating, our death/your death.
-By not falling into provocations.
-By raising the flag of brotherhood.

........................................

In short, we need to show the stance of common sense the prime minister avoids. Because those ruling the state have quit using common sense due to small calculations, it is the duty of the citizens to call for common sense.
