İhsanoğlu’s campaign: not that bright
Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu is the best candidate the opposition could find. I said this looking at his personal history, standing and the mentality he represents.
And when I saw the performance he displayed in the field in this short span of time, my view did not change; it was, to the contrary, strengthened.
What I saw was this:
- He does not act superficially; he plunges into all sorts of circles and does not look superficial.
-He strikes the balance between conservatism and modernism properly; he has no standings that irritate either side.
- He is self-confident. He works a lot and his performance in view of this age is superb.
He builds relationships between grievances, like those who suffered in Gezi, and those who suffer from policies banning the headscarf.
Pro-government commentators thought he would give up quickly, but he has shown he has strong stamina and nerves against all of those smear campaigns.
- He does not enter into polemics and as such leaves Recep Tayyip Erdoğan without polemics.
.........................................................
In short, he has all of the ingredients, but there are no organizational skills, enthusiasm, witty initiatives, or smart moves to make a fine dinner.
The Republican People’s Party (CHP) is not there, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) is not there. Their organizations are not there. Both their leaders seem to say, “We’ll find you a superb candidate, just go elect him.”
So much time has elapsed. They still have not found a solution on the issue of the “electors who will not go to the ballot box.”
They still have not ended the discussion that some within the CHP do not want him.
They still have not researched on how the MHP constituency will act.
They still have not started a campaign with fully defined targets and strategies.
They still have not focused on the votes that will be used abroad. They are still very disorganized.
The slogan they found is amateurs’ work. All of these inefficiencies make me think İhsanoğlu will be wasted.
The candidates:
The candidates of the state are:
- Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu...
- Selahattin Demirtaş...
The candidate of the nation:
- Recep Tayyip Erdoğan...
........................................
Now let see:
The state television...
How long has it devoted to the nation’s candidate and how long to the state’s?
.................................
According to a study conducted by a member of the Radio and Television Supreme Council RTÜK;
On July 4, 5 and 6 the time devoted to the candidates of state in all state channels are as following:
- İhsanoğlu: Three minutes...and 15 seconds.
- Demirtaş: 45 seconds. And it was about Demirtaş going to a relative’s funeral.
.......................................
How much time was devoted to their rival:
- Erdoğan: 533 minutes.
..........................................
The result: not even 4 minutes have been devoted to the candidates of the state.
The one who is not the state’s candidate had 533 minutes.
