One soldier killed, six others wounded during disposal of bomb in southeast Turkey

One soldier has been killed while six security officers have been wounded in an explosion that took place as a bomb squad was trying to dispose a bomb placed by outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in the Sur district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.The blast occurred at 5 p.m. on Jan. 20 on Nazif Street of Sur’s Dabanoğlu neighborhood and wounded seven officers, two critically.
One of the wounded soldiers, identified as gendarmerie specialized sergeant Ali Şahin, succumbed to his wounds at Diyarbakır Military Hospital where the injured soldiers are being treated.
