One soldier killed in clashes in Turkey’s southeast

One soldier was killed and four were wounded today in clashes with suspected members of outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the eastern province of Hakkari, Doğan news agency reported.
Numerous militants were also killed during air-backed operations conducted in rural areas of Çukurca district.
Two civilians were reportedly wounded due to shrapnel pieces that were left strewn around the area after military helicopters bombed the region.
The wounded civilians and soldiers were taken to nearby
hospitals.
Clashes are continuing as special forces were
dispatched to the region.
