One dead, five injured in Urfa shooting spree

İsmail Şeylan, 40, raided the municipality building and opened fire. The assailant had worked in the building and was captured after the attack.Birecik Mayor Faruk Pinarbaşı said on 24 news channel that the worker was recently assigned to a different department in charge of cleaning. He previously worked for a department in charge of gardening. Three people were said to be seriously injured and were said to be civilians who were at the municipal building, Anatolia news agency reported yesterday.
Pınarbaşı said he aimed his own gun to repel the attacker and escaped from the building during the attack. Pınarbaşı also said that three of the injured went through operations at the hospital. CNN-Türk television said police prevented the public who attempted to lynch the man. The municipality transferred from the Democrat Party to the conservative Saadet (Felicity) Party in the March 29 elections.
