Onay on stage at Hagia Irene

Turkish pianist Gülsin Onay is set to take the stage tomorrow at Istanbul’s Hagia Irene as part of ongoing Poland Week events.

Violinist Agata Szymczewska will accompany Onay as a soloist at the concert, which will also feature the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of maestro Tadeusz Strugala.

The concert is being organized to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship between Poland and Turkey.

The orchestra and soloists will play Witold Lutoslawski’s suite; one of the concertos will be played by Onay while the other will be played by Szymczewska. Audiences will also have the chance to listen to Ulvi Cemal Erkin’s rhapsody during the evening.
