Noncommissioned officers from all around world to gather in Turkey

Around 50,000 noncommissioned officers (NCOs) will be marching to the Anıtkabir mausoleum of Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, on Oct. 19 as part of a series of activities conducted to celebrate “World NCOs Day.”The significant day for NCOs, which has been set as October 17 by a retired Turkish NCO, will be honored with several events that will begin with placing a wreath on Atatürk’s mausoleum today and will end with a concert by famous Turkish singer Nazan Öncel on Oct. 19 following a 50,000-person cortege’s visit to Anıtkabir at the same day.
Yüksel Binici, the deputy chairman of Turkey’s Retired Noncommissioned Officers, came up with the idea of celebrating a day with his colleagues from all around the world, last year.
This year’s events mark the second year of celebration of the World NCOs Day. Turkish NCOs will welcome their counterparts who are expected to come from around 100 different countries, for the second year.
