No mercy for critical voices in CHP: Kılıçdaroğlu
ANKARA
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has said he will grant 'no mercy' for those who speak against decisions of the party’s authorized bodies.
Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has said he will grant no mercy to those who speak against decisions of the party’s authorized bodies, signaling a tough line ahead of the party's convention showdown on Sept. 5-6.The CHP leader said in a televised interview Sept. 2 that the party would "part ways" with those who continue to speak out against such decisions after the convention.
However, he stressed that this would not apply to his rivals during the convention, particularly rival candidate Muharrem İnce.
“Why should we part ways with him? I have worked with many colleagues who were candidates in the past,” Kılıçdaroğlu said, while also promising a “focused CHP that gives confidence with one voice, not many.”
The CHP head also stated that he would refuse to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the future"unless it was necessary."
“He [Erdoğan] wanted CHP deputies for his Cyprus trip, but we did not send any,” Kılıçdaroğlu said.
Meanwhile, Mustafa Sarıgül, the CHP’s defeated Istanbul candidate in the March 30 local elections, has expressed his full support for Kılıçdaroğlu.
“We have to prepare for the 2015 elections under the leadership of Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu,” he said.
