New chief executive appointed at Doğan Holding
ISTANBUL
A new chief executive officer has been appointed at Doğan Holding, the holding said in a written statement on Jan. 4.Soner Gedik will serve as CEO as of Jan. 5, replacing Yahya Üzdiyen, according to the statement. Üzdiyen will continue to serve on the boards of several Doğan Group companies.
“Gedik will begin serving as Doğan Holding CEO and executive director on the Doğan Holding Board as of Jan. 5. Gedik, who started his private sector career in 1987 at daily Hürriyet after years in the public sector and assumed high-level positions both at the Doğan Group and Doğan Holding, will make significant contributions in the growth period of our group with synergy and teamwork,” said the statement.
From 1989 to 1998, Gedik served as a board member and the vice president of Hürriyet Gazetecilik. He played a key role in the founding of Doğan Yayın Holding in 1998 and continued his contributions as CFO and vice president, according to the company’s website. Gedik assumed an active role in initial public offerings for media companies, international partnerships and the establishment of new companies.
Doğan Holding Chairwoman Begümhan Doğan Faralyalı wished success to Gedik in the statement.
