Mufti’s office to lead couples into felicitous marriages

The Mufti’s Office in the southern province of Mersin recently conducted a seminary to instruct some 100 engaged couples on the intricacies and finer aspects of married life, under a project called “I Want My Family.”The Family Instruction and Guidance Bureau in the Erdemli District Mufti’s Office jointly instructed the prospective marriage partners on such subjects as “Effective communication in the family and familial intelligence” and “The art of resolving conflict in marriage.”
Participating couples received a certificate after they completed the two hour long program, according to reports.
“We shared the secrets of a happy marriage with the engaged couples. We also got the chance to analyze the couples’ expectations from life and marriage through interactive communication [methods], such as polls and catechism in the program,” education and counselling expert Münir Arıkan said.
“The Erdemli Mufti’s Office has blazed a trail. I hope that as this seminary demonstrates its usefulness and marriage seminaries turn into a standard across the whole of Turkey,” he added.
